Experience all the wonderful things Jamaica has to offer!
Get ready for a blast in Jamaica, my friend! There’s a boatload of awesome, adventurous, and downright gorgeous things to check out. We’ve hit up three different spots – Ocho Rios, Montego Bay & Negril – and let us tell you, it’s been non-stop good times and amazing views with catamarans, snorkeling, fishing trips, jet boats, paddle boards, and tube rides all up for grabs. So many cool things to dive into!
Negril
Ricks Cafe | 7 Mile Beach
We snagged a Catamaran Snorkel & Sunset tour through our resort with Dreamer Catamaran Cruises, and it was one heck of a day! The grand finale was catching the sunset at Rick’s Cafe, and wow, it was breathtaking!
The tour bus rolled up to our resort at 1:20 pm, and our first stop was Margaritaville – this rad bar/restaurant right on the beach. Picture this: DJ spinning, people dancing, shots flowing, and smoke in the air – total party vibes! Service was pretty slow, but hey, we scored a couple of cold ones while gearing up for the catamaran.
Our catamaran had it all – beer, wine, spirits, groovy tunes, and a crew that knew their stuff. Oh, and on the way back, they treated us to a complimentary foot massage! Snorkeling was a blast, although Jeff, in all his glory, lasted a whopping 5 minutes. Turns out, he forgot to trim his facial scruff, and there was no vaseline on board to seal his mask. So, he gracefully retreated to the boat to enjoy some drinks – not that he was complaining, of course!
The water is so warm and quite calm that day, the staff would dive down to bring up marine life to educate us and we were able to feed the fish crackers right in front of our face! Jas got to see things she’s never seen before a sea cucumber & purple sea urchin.
After snorkeling they took us to Rick’s Cafe which is a restaraunt & bar with cliff jumping! This place was packed and therefore terrible service but the atmosphere was so fun!
Jas cliff jumped from the second highest platform at 25ft, the next highest is at 35ft but it wasn’t open at the time, and only the staff members could jump from the very highest (around 40ft). Crazy right! It’s an adrenaline rush for sure, so if you want to make the jump, just build up to the heights and listen to the jump guide! You don’t wanna break your arm or tailbone or somethin’ cause that would suck.
We closed out the day with the party boat back to Margaritaville and one thing we realized is that kegs on a boat do not mix. Sloshing beer = foam. We got back to our resort around 8pm, which was later than the days itinerary stated, but oh well, just in time for dinner and a show!

Our Tips:
- Bring vaseline to seal off your snorkel mask
- Bring a small beach bag & towel
- Cliff jump before getting wasted or smoking a joint
- Bring cash and/or credit card – there is no ATM at Rick’s Cafe (we felt like Jeffs wallet was safe in our beach bag)
7 Mile Beach
Although named 7 Mile Beach, it is slightly over 4 miles in length and is monitored by security around the clock near the resorts. Our resort, the Royalton Hideaway, is nearby, but walking the entire beach from there is not feasible as there are rock barricades. To truly enjoy it, consider options like a boat ride, taxi, or catamaran tour.
Along this beach, you’ll find Margaritaville and numerous other restaurants, bars, and accommodations.
Dunn’s River Falls | River Tubing | Luminous Lagoon
This was a bucket list adventure for us. Where warm and shallow, salt and fresh water combine, are microorganisms called dinoflagellates. When disturbed they glow a bright green color. This image isn’t ours, it’s just to give you a glimpse of it’s beauty! We don’t have any pictures of this because it truly was one of those once in a lifetime WOW experiences, and we were warned that pictures won’t even come close to doing it justice. And it doesn’t, its so much more jaw dropping in person.
…it truly was one of those once in a lifetime WOW experiences
So obvs this is a night tour, we can’t remember what time but a van picked us up from our resort Riu Ocho Rios and brought us to the dock which is also a hotel & restaraunt. From there we got on a small boat that took us not far out into the lagoon. And no joke, the dinoflagellates would glow even in our boats wake! So cool! Once stopped we were able to get in and swim. You can touch the bottom but it’s muddy and what a cool experience swimming at night in a dark lagoon with glowing things around you! You can even sometimes feel fish touch you. So if you’re not a water lover or “the things in the water” lover, maybe stay in the boat. Jas’s mom didn’t swim & she said it’s still amazing to watch the water glow from the boat as others swam.
But even if you do have a little water fear, it’s honestly so worth it to experience nature in such a beautiful way. So just go for it, it’s really quite remarkable!
Our Tips:
- Bring a small beach bag/towel
- Leave your camera at the resort for the Luminous Lagoon
- Bring water shoes
- Cash for tips
- Don’t wear a strapless swimsuit at Dunns River Falls
We’ll add on more about Dunns River Falls & the River Tubing as soon as we can!
